Rose Zulofsky, 92
MOBILE, Ala. — Rose Zulofsky, 92, formerly of Portland, passed away on Oct. 5, 2014, in Mobile Ala., where she had lived for the past four years.
Born on Oct. 8, 1921, in Lowell Mass., she was the daughter of immigrant parents Anna and Victor Brownstein, and sister to Evelyn (Brownstein) Snider and Mildred (Brownstein) Steinberg.
Rose grew up in Lowell, Mass., and graduated from Lowell High School. In 1947 she married Joseph Zulofsky and moved with him to Portland. They were married for over 64 years. While in Portland, Rose worked as a homemaker, a bookkeeper for their business (Alrose Printing Co.), a restaurant hostess and in retail sales, retiring from Porteous, Mitchell, and Braun after 20 years.
Rose is survived by her daughter Alain Gamble and her husband Gary of Mobile, Ala.; Debra Zulofsky and her husband Denis Foley of Easton, Mass.; and her four grandchildren, Jennifer Gamble of St. Louis, Mo., Marissa Gamble of North Carolina, Milandon Foley of Rhode Island and Alessa Foley of Easton, Mass.
Her funeral will be at The Jewish Funeral Home (Levy Chapel), 471 Deering Ave., Portland, on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 12 p.m. Burial will be at Mount Sinai Cemetery, Hicks Street, Portland.
