Michael R. Krigman, 53
PORTLAND – Michael R. Krigman, 53, passed away in his sleep on Jan. 3, 2015, at his home.
Michael was born on June 6, 1961, at Mercy Hospital in Portland. His parents Hyman Krigman & Irene Carvel Krigman, brought Mike up in the Oakdale neighborhood. He graduated from Portland High School in 1979, attended business classes at USM and successfully owned and operated City Center News and Smoker’s Depot.
A passionate Red Sox and Patriots fan, Michael enjoyed all in-depth aspects of professional and collegiate sports. Mike traveled extensively to many places, such as Brazil, London, Austria, Mexico, Costa Rica, Iceland, and New Orleans, enjoying the different cultures with great enthusiasm and intrigue.
Michael loved life – and enjoyed living it every day. Most of all, he relished socializing with his family and devoted friends. More than anything, Michael will be remembered for his generosity, honesty and wonderful sense of humor.
Michael is survived by his brother, Harry Krigman of Cape Elizabeth, sisters, Lori Krigman of Portland and Melissa Presser and her husband Richard of Margate, Fla.; his loving nieces, Ellie, Chaya and Haley; and his closest friend and advocate Mary Rena.
Michael, as well as his family and close friends, want to thank Dr. Jim Wasserman, who was his longtime doctor and friend, and Rabbi Saks and Rosie Whol of Congregation Bet Ha’am for their continued support and spiritual guidance, and Rabbi Akiva Herzfeld for his support.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the Levey Chapel, 471 Deering Ave., Portland. Interment to follow at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Hicks St., Portland. Arrangements by The Jewish Funeral Home, Portland.
