Stephan J. Joachim

Stephan Jay Joachim of Framingham and Milford, MA passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Dorothy Parlin Hospice Residence, Wayland MA after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the dear husband of Karen Keating-Joachim of Milford, loving father of Michael and his wife Ellen of Sudbury, and Suzanne Horgan and her husband James of Needham, loving grandfather of Zachary, Seth and Matthew Joachim all of Sudbury and Jared, Jessica, Alexandra, Caitlin, Courtney, and Abbey Horgan all of Needham. He was a devoted son of the late Albert and Rose Joachim and loving brother of the late Leonard Joachim, all of Portland Maine. He is also survived by his former spouse, Jane. S. Joachim of Natick, and many loving cousins. Steve was a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting as well as an LLB from Boston University School of Law. For the majority of his career, he worked in healthcare finance as a senior executive at Morton Hospital, Mount Auburn Hospital, AdCare Hospital and Worcester State Hospital. He also worked for Phillips Lifeline in Framingham. After his retirement, Steve worked seasonally for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in Framingham. Steve was born in New York and raised in Portland. After college and law school in Boston he remained in Massachusetts living in Natick, Framingham and Milford. Steve was enormously proud of his children Michael and Suzanne and he delighted in the accomplishments and talents of his 9 grandchildren. Special appreciation is extended to Deborah Schrag, MD, MPH, Karen Sommer, NP, MSN, APN-BC, David Yuppa, MD and Bruce McDonald, MSW, LICSW at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston for their wonderful care; to the team on 10A at Brigham & Womens Hospital; and to the caring staff at the Dorothy Parlin Hospice Residence whose kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be held Friday June 10th at 11:00am at Temple Beth El, 400 Deering Avenue, Portland ME. Interment will follow immediately at Temple Beth El Memorial Park in Portland.
