Eleanor “Ellen” Levy Ross, 98
SACO – Eleanor “Ellen” Levy Ross died peacefully Nov. 23, 2016, at Seal Rock Health Care in Saco. She was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, June 5, 1918, to Hyman and Lillian Shapiro Levy. She graduated from Brookline High School and Emerson College.
Ellen was happily married to Dr. Maurice Ross for 43 years, until his death in 1988.
Ellen served as a volunteer for many local groups, teaching young children and supporting health care and the Jewish community.
Her greatest joy was taking care of her family and building relationships with friends, old and new, whether by the beach or pool, at the card table, on a walk, or around a dinner table.
She is survived by her twin sister, Estelle Levy Dine; her children, Nancy Ross, and husband George Viles; and James Ross, and wife Irene Coletsos; grandchildren, Marcus Ross, Bram Viles, and Sarah Ross-Viles, and husband Charlie Ellis; and great-grandchildren, Callie and Sidney Ellis.
Thank you to the staff and administration at Seal Rock Health Care and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful warmth and care they provided Ellen and the family.
There will be a memorial service at Congregation Bet Ha’Am, 81 Westbrook St., South Portland, Friday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. Arrangements are by Jewish Funeral Home.
