Laurie Cox
PORTLAND – Loving wife and mother Laurie Cox, daughter of Frank and Bertha Robbins, was born and raised on the upper west side of Manhattan. She attended Hunter elementary and high schools, Williams College, and earned her master’s degree in French literature at NYU.
In New York City, she was an assistant middle school teacher at Grace Church School and taught undergraduates at NYU. Here in Portland, she taught French at Catherine McAuley High Schol and tutored multiple subjects at Waynflete High School.
Laurie touched the lives of everyone she knew and will be sorely missed. She died peacefully at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House on Feb. 19, 2017, and is survived by her daughter Eliza Cox, brother Michael Robbins, and husband William Cox.
Funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Levey Chapel, 471 Deering Ave., Portland. Arrangements are by the Jewish Funeral Home.
