Annabelle (Tabachnick) Milstein, 92
FALMOUTH – Annabelle (Tabachnick) Milstein died on Jan. 11, 2018, at Falmouth by the Sea.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1925, to her parents, Maurice and Ruth Tabachnick. Except for a brief time spent in Lewiston as a child, she was a lifelong resident of Portland. Annabelle attended Portland schools and was a graduate of Portland High School, Class of 1943.
Annabelle was married for 61 years to Max Milstein, who preceded her in death.
An active member of Shaarey Tphiloh Synagogue on Noyes Street, Annabelle was past president of the Sisterhood and Hadassah. She also volunteered at The Jewish Home for the Aged. Renowned for her baking acumen, Annabelle’s cinnamon bubke was the coveted auction item at the synagogue’s fundraising events. She was a sophisticated reader of the classics and contemporary literature, who loved most sitting in a lounge chair at Old Orchard Beach, her summer home, surrounded by her family, with a good book in her hand.
Annabelle is survived by her sister, Muriel Cohen. She is remembered by her children: Dr. Peter Milstein (Ceseli), Marla Sax (Denney), former son-in-law Stanley Sax, and Lorry Stillman (Neal); her grandchildren, Jessica Lenci (Kent), Robert Stillman (Anna), Jennifer Sax (Martin), Robert Sax (Erin), Aaron Milstein (Megan), and Malia Milstein. She leaves behind her beloved great-grandchildren, Cooper, J.D., Adriana, Romilly, Mirabel, Leilani, and Kaia.
The family is grateful to the Visiting Nurses Association and the staff at Falmouth by the Sea for their kindness in caring for their mother.
A funeral service will be held at The Jewish Funeral Home on 471 Deering Ave., Portland, at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, with burial at Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Hicks Street, Portland. Following burial, the family will receive friends and family at 238 Barnstable Rd., Unit 7, in South Portland.
