Clara Purinton, 67
PORTLAND – Clara Purinton, 67, of Portland, passed away July 12, 2018 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Clara’s unique zest for life was evident in all she did. Clara spent years of her life creating and designing handcrafted quilts for her friends, family and community. Just as she stitched together patches of fabric, so did she thread herself into our hearts with her quest for life’s answers and perseverance to share our own humanity with each other. Her efforts were noble ones and will be missed greatly. In the words of our mother: “Do Justice, Have Mercy and Be Humble.”
Clara is survived by her mother, Shirley Grover, 95; her three children: William Pinkham, Robert Pinkham, and Holly Pinkham Fleming; her brothers; Bill, Don, and Walter Grover; sisters, Gail Rinaldi and Rita Jergen; and grandchildren; Thomas, Frances, and Benjamin; along with nieces and nephews; Wes, Jess, Brian, Brittany, Beverly, Rob and AJ.
Our deepest gratitude to the staff of Gosnell House for providing our mother with such loving care during her last days.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 17 at 11 a.m., at Temple Beth El, 471 Deering Ave., in Portland. Interment will follow the service. Friends and family are invited back to Temple Beth El following the interment to share a light meal and for a celebration of Clara’s life. Arrangements by the Portland Jewish Funeral Home.
