Evelyn Green Litman
ST PETERSURG, Fla. — Evelyn G Litman formerly of Portland died Friday evening, Jan.4,2014. She was born in Biddeford on Dec. 22, 1930, the daughter of Esther Slosberg Green and Charles Green. She was married to Robert H Litman on June 15,1952.
Evelyn graduated from Thornton Academy and Simmons College. Mrs. Litman worked as a nursery school teacher, a bookkeeper for the Portland Press Herald Federal Credit Union, and for the Jewish Community Center She was active in many organizations including being a past president of the JCC Women’s Club, past president of the Portland Chapter of Haddassah, and on the Board of directors of the Temple Beth El. She enjoyed playing Ma Jong, cooking, bowling with the JCC bowling club, and any activity with volunteering or socializing with friends and family. She moved to Florida in 2007 and quickly became involved and various volunteering organizations and social clubs.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Fred Green, Norbert Green and his wife Miriam Green. Survivors include her loving husband Robert H Litman of 61 years; sons Michael Litman and wife Sally Litman of Portland, Peter Litman and wife Heidi Litman of Portland, Dana Litman and wife Paula Litman of Suwanee Georgia, and daughter Marcy Litman of St Petersburg Fla.; sister-in-law Jeanette Green; five grandchildren; and threegreat-grandchildren.
Services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at The Levey Chapel, 471 Deering Ave, Portland, Maine, 04103. Interment will follow at Temple Beth El Memorial Park. The family will be sitting Shiva Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening at the home of Peter Litman, 99 Londwood Dr. Portland. Arrangements by The Jewish Funeral Home.
