Daniel Hector Levitz, 54 years of age of Lebanon, Maine passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born to Dimiti Howard and Bernard Levitz in Oakland, California and remained a loyal Raiders fan throughout his life, even after leaving California. He attended high school in Saugus, Massachusetts and was a graduate of North Adams College. He went on to a career in social work where he made an impact on all he helped. It was there that he met the love of his life, Julie Martin of Hartford, CT, whom he married in Salem, Massachusetts. They later moved to Lebanon, Maine where they raised their two children, Hannah and Samuel, whom he adored and instilled in them both his passion for history and his love of horror movies. He was employed by Cognia in the field of educational testing, where his coworkers will always remember him as a kind and dear friend.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia (Martin) Levitz; his children, Hannah and Samuel and his mother-in-law, Lucia Martin. He is also survived by his sister Sarah Brennan and spouse Patrick; his brothers Richard Levitz and spouse Madeline; Michael Levitz; step-sisters Elizabeth Gorman and spouse Chuck; Amy Lindsay Nicholas and spouse Andrew and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A graveside service will be held at the Temple Beth El Memorial Park in Portland, Maine on Thursday June 3rd at plot 24 at 12:00. Arrangements entrusted to Portland Jewish Funeral Home.
