PORTLAND and Laguna Woods, Calif. – Gerald Boxstein, born July 30,1924, to Hyman and Rose Boxstein of Portland, Maine, a resident of Portland, and later Laguna Woods, Calif., lost his life due to a tragic and untimely passing. He succumbed to his injuries after being hit by a vehicle as he was taking his usual morning walk.
He is survived by his sister, Bernice Bratz in Montreal; children, Ronnie, David and Jan; his daughter-in-law, Edith, and two son-in-laws, Dennis and Steven; grandchildren, Jessica, Justin, Esther, Jonathan, and Nissana; great-grandchildren Genevieve, Abraham and Greta.
Gerald was owner of Odorite Co. 40-plus years, past president of the Shaarey Tphiloh Synagogue and of the Portland Hebrew Day School.
His family was his life as well as his religious beliefs. He enjoyed long walks on the beach, golf and bridge. He was never too busy to stop what he was doing to help another in need.
Funeral arrangements are set for Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, at The Portland Jewish Funeral Home, 471 Deering Ave., Portland at 10:30 a.m.
Shiva will be held in Los Angeles, Calif.
